Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini – A Complete Review

Much as they did when releasing the Galaxy S3, Samsung plans to follow the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S4 with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. Following its release, the S4 Mini is expected to be a scaled-down example of its inspiration, and now is a great time to learn the details on its specifications, official release date, and of course, what it will cost.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Full review
While the name might convey an idea of a significantly smaller item, the Galaxy S4 Mini still comes with a sizable 4.3 inch screen. While that’s smaller than the 4.99 inch of the full sized S4, its still larger than the screen of the Apple iPhone 5. However, the differences between the Mini and its parent are more apparent when it comes to screen resolution. The Mini S4 offers 960×540 HD resolution, significantly less than the full-sized Galaxy S4, which offers 1,920×1,080 HD resolution. Most likely the Mini S4’s screen will be fine for surfing the internet, but for a fully sharp text, one will likely have to zoom in a bit.
While advanced word on the street was that the Galaxy S4 Mini might just offer a sizable and fast LITTLE ARM processor, the truth of it is more down-to-earth, but still satisfying, as it offers a reliable 1.7GHz. While details have yet to be announced on exactly which model of processor the Mini S4 will feature, it’s a safe bet the speed offered will have no problems running the Android operating system at all.
Speaking of Android, as luck would have it, the Galaxy Mini S4 comes with Android 4.2.2 already installed. This updated edition of Android steps things up by offering an enhanced user interface, as well as a boost in speed. Besides its operating system, the Mini S4 offers many Samsung customizations, including the S Translator, which offers translations in real-time, as well as S Health, a useful application that works with other tools to follow heart rate, weight, and sleeping patterns.
To date, Samsung has stated we should expect 3 types of the Galaxy S4 Mini, including a 3G release, a 4G LTE version, as well as a 3G, dual-SIM release. Samsung has yet to state which examples will hit the UK market, though it appears it won’t be the dual-SIM edition. And its hoped by many in the UK the edition they’ll get is the LTE, as it’s the only version offering built-in NFC.
The Mini S4 is expected to offer 8GB of storage capacity; 5GB will be free-of-charge to its purchasers. Luckily, the Mini S4 will be microSD compatible, and able to accept microSD cards of up to 64GB.
As for the camera the Galaxy S4 Mini will feature, expect it to offer 8 megapixels of resolution. Its hoped by many to be identical to the camera offered by the Samsung Galaxy S3, which was considered one of the best cameras of last year, which still can compete with the quality of photos taken on this season’s top-level handsets.
Right now, with Samsung’s attentions directed towards the success of the full-sized Galaxy S4, its improbable Samsung will quickly add the Mini to its immediate offerings, which indicates the Galaxy S4 Mini is likely to hit the market in later June or July, a few months after the full-sized edition has gained attention.
Considering the initial price of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was £300 without SIM involvement, its difficult to believe the S4 edition will cost any less. The concern then is that this price may be a bit too high, considering its specs and the rest of the entries in mid-class Android phone offerings. Observers will have to hold on a little longer to find out, however, until the event of the United Kingdom’s edition’s release, expected to take place later this year, in June.
