The A116 Canvas HD is a new combination smartphone cum tablet from manufacturer Micromax. Until recently, powerful phones with quad-core processors were provided only by market giants such as Samsung, Sony, or HTC. But the times have changed, and the competition has proved to be increasingly fierce. Currently, simply owning a famous brand name is not valued as much by consumers, and thus, the major brands can no longer afford to price their devices too expensively.
Globally Cheap : With the influx of many makes and models from around the world, offering lower and lower prices, there is no longer a need for the consumer to pay big money to get a good product, with excellent performance. Micromax A116 Canvas HD Quad-Core Smartphone has been launched in India at a price of less than USD $250. Already having been announced for some time, the first devices began to be sold in India this February.
Impeccable Display : On first inspection of the Micromax A116 Canvas HD, you will notice that the device is equipped with a 5-inch IPS screen. The screen displays a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The display is sharper than the predecessor model Micromax Canvas 2, and also looks better than, for example, the Samsung Galaxy Grand. The front of the case is black, and the rear of the case is white. The wide view angles of the IPS panel make it possible for more than one user to view the screen content simultaneously, which can be useful for watching video, viewing photos, or other interactive experiences.
High Power GPU, Storage and Battery : Micromax A116 Canvas HD uses a Mediatek Quad-Core processor running at 1.2 GHz. It has an 8 megapixel camera which is located on the rear. And at the front, we find a 2-megapixel camera. Storage includes 1 GB RAM, and 4 GB of internal memory, which is expandable up 32 GB via micro-SD card. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top, and a microphone on the bottom edge. The handset also includes FM radio. The OEM battery supplied is 2100 mAh. This smartphone is also a Dual SIM, as it can handle two SIM cards simultaneously. Obviously, it comes with the Android OS, which in this case is Android 4.1.2, also known as the “Jelly Bean” release.
Simply the best in range : These specifications may not be the very top end of the current market, but for the price, they are certainly good enough. And indeed the Micromax A116 Canvas HD outperforms the large majority of smartphone/tablets in its price range. Despite being a less-recognized brand, the product is already very popular.
Remember when the Nexus 4 was launched and the first shipment was sold out in a few hours? Well, the HD Canvas did even better. Exactly how many units were sold in the first day is not known, but the entire stock was sold out in less than 15 minutes. The vast media coverage before the sale was successful. We have noticed that there is a tendency at the moment for the release of a new product in an emerging country. Maybe the manufacturers have sensed a good track record in this respect.
